Ik zie nu dat het alweer 1week geleden is dat ik een blog plaatste: time flies when you're having fun? Ik heb zo een byebye-party dus heb vanavond ook geen tijd om iets te schrijven. Wel kan ik jullie een kleine impressie geven van wat ik zoal uitspook op school, mbv een van mijn artikels:
Money is useless; water is the new currency in Haiti
The condition in Haiti is getting worse. The police officers who survived the earthquake are busy with burying their family, which means they do not have time to patrol the streets. The Red Cross in Haiti has run out of their body bags, so the International Red Cross has to send them more. The Haitian people are looking in the streets for food and water, money is useless now.
Aid for Haiti
Fortunately: everyone can help the Haitian people. From the eight of February till the fourteenth of February, it is the World Orphan Week. This is the time to respond the World Orphan Crisis. This year, The World Orphan Week is all about the earthquake in Haiti. There are a lot of school who take part of this week, including Kaplan International College. On Wednesday the 10th of February, they took part of the ‘hats for Haiti’ day. All the teachers wore hats this day and there were also some students who joined by wearing hats. In the lunch break, they sold cakes and they will donate the money raised from this to the Haitian earthquake appeal.
How can you help?
I you want to help the Haiti people as well, there are a lot of possibilities. You can spread your word via Facebook, Twitter or Myspace. You can also buy the Alternative Gifts SOS Children offers (www.soschildren.org) for friend’s birthdays or special occasions. The money raised from these is helping to support the children at the SOS Village Basse in The Gambia, as well as many families and children in the local community there. Another thing you can do is holding a ‘Food for friends’ event. Cook a meal or hold a coffee morning or even a ‘Bring and Share’ meal, and ask guests to make a donation to World Orphan Week.
